Ramadan Essentials
Salam and Ramadan Kareem, everyone!
Alhamdulillah, we’re halfway into Ramadan—hope it’s been nothing but blessings for you so far!
Can you believe it’s been almost a year since I started this blog? And yet, the number of drafts sitting unpublished is honestly embarrassing. Haha, but hey—new year, new me? InsyaAllah! This blog was meant to document my new homeowner journey while sharing cool finds, interesting products, and little things we’ve discovered (or wish we had).
And since it’s Ramadan, I figured this would be the perfect time to finally post—starting with a list of Ramadan essentials I’ve been using and a few wishlist items. Maybe it’ll give you some inspo to make the most of the rest of the month!
So, here’s my list of Ramadan must-haves:

1. 🛒 WANT: Meal Prep Containers / Overnight Oat Jars
I think we can all agree—waking up for sahur without the help of our parents is a whole new struggle. Let’s be real, there are days when I barely roll out of bed 10 minutes before azan. And on those mornings, what really saves me? Leftovers and meal preps—because honestly, something is always better than nothing, right?
Food Storage Options : Glass Containers | Metal Containers
Now, imagine waking up with barely any time left and nothing quick to eat. Nightmare. 😅 That’s exactly why meal prep containers and overnight oat jars are on my wishlist. Technically, I do have some makeshift options—I’ve been reusing plastic takeaway containers and even Ziploc bags. But after watching one too many meal prep videos, I really want those proper airtight containers. Not only would the food stay fresher for longer, but my fridge would also look way more organized with matching containers.
Overnight Oat Jar options : Glass Jar #1 | Glass Jar #2 | Glass Jar #3 | Double Layer Cup
Overnight oat jars, on the other hand, are just super practical. You can prep them the night before, portion them out easily, and they’re fridge-safe. Some even come with a separate compartment for toppings so you won’t end up with soggy granola. It’s a simple way to make sahur less of a rush, and honestly, I love the idea of having something ready to grab and eat first thing in the morning.
2. ✅ HAVE: Personal Blender
Another quick sahur fix? Anything you can throw into a blender—fruit juice, protein shakes, or even homemade Kurma Milk (seriously, so many easy recipes out there). And let’s be honest, that box of kurma sitting in your fridge? Yeah, you know you’re not gonna finish it otherwise. 😂
While it wasn’t my first choice, I ended up getting the Powerpac personal blender—mainly because it was one of the more budget-friendly options and it came with two bottles. Since both Irfan and I usually have our shakes at the same time, having an extra bottle just made sense. Instead of the whole hassle of blend → pour → repeat, now we just take turns blending and drink straight from the bottle (it even comes with two covers!). Super convenient and saves a ton of time in the morning.
Okay, I know I already have a blender, but I can’t help eyeing the Ninja blenders—they’ve got amazing reviews and honestly, their products look so good! Look at those colours! It’s on my wishlist for sure, but for now... I’ll just admire from afar. Maybe one day? Hehe.
3. ✅ HAVE: Airfryer
When it comes to easy and quick meals, my airfryer has been an absolute essential. There are so many things you can cook with it—just pop your food in, set the timer, and let it do its thing. I know that’s what a microwave does too, but let’s be real... the airfryer gives it that crisp.
What makes mine extra special is that it’s shaped more like an oven—and actually works like one too. It doesn’t just air-fry; it can bake, steam, and roast as well. Pretty cool, right? So far, I’ve used it for everything from air-fried popcorn chicken to baked mac & cheese, and even made a Basque burnt cheesecake and steamed my store-bought siew mai.
Whether it’s prepping for sahur or iftar, this thing is a huge help—especially for those ready-to-eat meals that just need a quick crisp-up.
4. 🛒 WANT: Baking Set
Since my airfryer can double as a baking tool, I’ve been browsing for Kueh Raya recipes. It’s been ages since the oven at my parents' place was working, so baking hasn’t really been a thing for a while. But hey, maybe it’s time to bring back the tradition! This year, I’ve got my eyes on honey cornflakes and sarang semut—and if I’m feeling extra ambitious, maybe even tapak kuda. Why not, right? HAHA.
My airfryer does come with a basic tray, but if I really want to take baking seriously, I’d probably need to invest in better equipment—like a muffin tray, cake pan, and more baking trays. What else am I missing? 🤔 That got me scrolling through Shopee, and man, there are so many options! Now I just need to figure out the right sizes, but these sets are definitely on my wishlist:
Also, while looking at baking sets, I noticed that a lot of electric ovens kept popping up. Now I’m wondering—would it be worth getting one? I can bake with my airfryer, but would a “proper” oven actually make a difference? (And I say “proper” because, technically, it’s not a convection oven, which—according to my sister-in-law—is the best for baking.) What do you guys think? Is it worth the upgrade? Let me know!
5. ✅ HAVE: Alarm Clock with Radio
Alright, this last one might not be the most exciting, but hear me out—it’s essential! I mean, all the fancy meal prep and appliances won’t matter if I don’t even wake up for Sahur, right? 😂 So yes, an alarm clock with a radio is a must-have for Ramadan. Alarm to wake up, radio to catch the azan—simple but super useful. I couldn’t find the exact model I have, but here are some good alternatives to check out! 🤭
And that’s a quick list of Ramadan essentials—some I already have, and some I wish I had! 😆 Hope this list gave you some inspiration for the remaining days of Ramadan! If you’ve got any must-haves or wishlist items of your own, share them with me—I’d love to know what’s on your list!
Wishing everyone a blessed Ramadan ahead!
Till the next post ~
